Manipulation

Joint mobilisations are gentle movements of joints or the spine that the physiotherapist performs on you. Joint mobilisations are used to restore movement by decreasing stiffness, increasing lubrication and nutrition to the joint and can be used to relieve pain.

Spinal Manipulations are small rapid movements of a localised spinal joint performed by the physiotherapist. They are used to restore joint movement and relieve pain. Following an assessment of your problem the physiotherapist will discuss your treatment programme with you which may include joint mobilisations or spinal manipulation. After joint mobilisation or manipulation we will provide specific exercises and advice to allow you to maintain the improvement gained by the treatment and help prevent reoccurrence of symptoms.
